Visa

Finally, the visa application is gone - due to arrive at 9am tomorrow, courtesy of Royal Mail Special Delivery.

I'd just like to note how helpful, efficient and patient the ACPO Police Certificates people, Dr Killiner and the other Kensington Medical Practice staff and the Ulster Clinic X-Ray dept staff have been with repeated phone call check ups and visits - if anyone else is looking for private visa medicals I would highly recommend them. Notably, some countries, NZ included, require you to pick from a list of 'Panel Doctors' and radiologists, so check this before you book an appointment with your own doctor - if you do need to find Immigration NZ registered consultants, I'd can recommend looking here. Regarding Police Certificates for US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand - look at the ACPO website.

To celebrate (not having to think about visas any more [1]) here's the very cool official DunedinNZ.com tourism video and another pair of photos.

Firstly, Dunedin at night (that's the Pacific in the far distance). If I've got the geography right, this is from Mount Cargill and Knox College is on the left most-way down the zig-zag. Full attribution: chris17nz on Flickr, CC-by-nc-nd. The Harbour edge runs along the line of lights.

As always, a picture of Holywood to compare: the Kinnegar at night (CC-by).Finally, for any procrastinators out there who are considering a PhD (this is exam season...), briefly amuse yourself with this relevant PhD Comics strip. Thankfully NZ application hasn't been that bad so far, but I'd best hold back comment until I'm all visa'd up and there :)

1 - Unless they return my application. Let's not think about that possibility.
